Educational tool: This provides general information, not personalised legal advice. A generated Will is a draft and is not executed until it is properly signed and witnessed. Complex or cross-border situations are deliberately routed out of the automated builder.

Quick profile

These answers determine whether the automated Will route is suitable.

The automated Will route is intentionally limited to Singapore Citizens and PRs with straightforward Singapore estates.
Muslim estates are routed to Wasiat/Faraid guidance instead of this standard Will draft.
Important: Marriage generally revokes an existing Will unless a statutory exception applies, including a Will expressly made in contemplation of the specific marriage. Separately, an existing CPF nomination is revoked upon marriage and should be made again after marriage if you want CPF savings distributed according to your wishes.
Divorce: Divorce does not itself revoke a Will or CPF nomination. Review both promptly so an ex-spouse or older instructions do not remain in place unintentionally.
Step 2 of 7

Family & dependants

Record children, dependants and any guardian preference.

Children

Other financial dependants

Guardian preference for child(ren) under 21

A Will may appoint a testamentary guardian, but the appointment operates within Singapore's statutory framework and the child's welfare remains central. For a conservative automated route, V6 only accepts a specifically named individual guardian who is confirmed to be 21 or older and willing to act.
Step 3 of 7

Assets & liabilities

Build a high-level inventory. Estimates are enough; leave value blank if unknown.

Assets

Routing matters: CPF account savings are outside the Will; joint-tenancy property and many joint accounts generally pass by survivorship; SRS balances generally form part of the estate on death; CPFIS investments form part of the estate; insurance and DPS can depend on nominations. HPS first pays the insured housing loan, with any excess death-claim amount credited to the deceased member’s CPF Ordinary Account for CPF death distribution. Never enter passwords, PINs, seed phrases or recovery codes.

Nominations & planning documents

A Will is only one part of an estate plan.

Choose based on your current CPF position.
Keep access instructions securely outside this tool. Do not place passwords or seed phrases in a Will.
DPS: If there is a DPS nomination and a Will made known to the DPS insurer, the beneficiary arrangement taking effect at the later date applies. A newly executed Will can therefore require a fresh DPS review.
Insurance: A trust nomination can take precedence over a Will. A revocable nomination may interact with the latest known revocable nomination or Will. Review each policy individually.
LPA, ACP & AMD: An LPA appoints decision-maker(s) if you lose mental capacity. An ACP records future healthcare preferences and is not itself a legal document. An AMD is a separate legal document concerning extraordinary life-sustaining treatment if you are terminally ill and unconscious; it is voluntary and must be registered through the Ministry of Health process.

Will Builder suitability check

The automated draft is intentionally limited to straightforward cases. The checklist and estate summary remain useful even if the Will Builder is not suitable.

Step 6 of 7

Write your Will

Complete the straightforward drafting choices. The preview updates as you type.

Your Will details

V6.2 automated scope: Use named individual people for executors, trustees, guardians, beneficiaries and specific-gift recipients. Charities/organisations, pets, class gifts (for example “my children”), unborn/future beneficiaries, corporate/trust-company executors, or bespoke trust structures should use professional drafting instead. V6.2 requires an explicit individual-person confirmation for every role used in the automated draft.

Executor & trustee

Asset-specific distribution & personal wishes

The assets you entered in Step 3 appear here automatically. For assets that form part of your estate, you may leave them in the residuary estate or allocate the asset separately between named beneficiaries. For assets that pass outside the Will under the current arrangement, you may optionally record a concise personal wish.

Two different effects: an asset-specific distribution is drafted as a gift under the Will. A personal wish is not a gift and does not override CPF rules, joint-tenancy survivorship, a trust nomination or another separate transfer arrangement. The Will will first acknowledge the restriction and then record your personal wish in the concise format shown in the preview.

Residuary beneficiaries

These beneficiaries receive the balance of the estate after debts, expenses, specific gifts and any asset-specific gifts. Shares must total exactly 100%. If any residuary beneficiary, fallback beneficiary, specific-gift recipient or asset-specific beneficiary may be under 21, this automated route requires a distinct backup executor and a distinct second trustee so two suitable adults remain named for the under-21 trust structure.

Current total: 0%

Optional specific gifts

For safety, this separate gift section supports only cash gifts and clearly described tangible personal items. Use the asset-specific distribution section above for eligible property, accounts, investments, SRS/CPFIS and other estate assets already entered in Step 3. Assets outside the Will can be recorded there only as personal wishes.

Survival & fallback

If a child or other descendant beneficiary does not satisfy the survival condition, this automated draft expressly redirects that failed gift/share instead of allowing it to pass automatically to that beneficiary's descendants. If no residuary beneficiary survives, the named fallback receives the residue; if that fallback also fails the survival condition, the draft expressly falls back to applicable intestacy law. If you want per-stirpes/descendant substitution or a different ultimate fallback, use legal review.
Singapore residential property: If any person who may inherit an interest in residential property is not a Singapore citizen, obtain legal advice on Residential Property Act requirements. The Singapore Courts note that an estate interest may need to be transferred to beneficiaries or sold within 5 years from death.

Witness readiness check

These are conservative DIY safeguards, not an exhaustive statement of all legal requirements.

Singapore's Wills Act requires the testator's signature to be made or acknowledged in the presence of two or more witnesses present at the same time, and the witnesses must subscribe the Will in the testator's presence. A gift to an attesting witness or the witness's spouse may be void, so this tool conservatively excludes them.
After signing: Keep the signed original safely and tell your executor where it is. Do not casually cross out clauses or handwrite substantive amendments onto an executed Will. If you need a change, prepare a properly executed new Will/codicil with appropriate advice where needed.
SAL: The Wills Registry records the existence/location of a Will. The newer Wills Repository allows a digital copy to be deposited through participating law firms. The signed original remains important.
Automated Will Builder not used. Your answers indicate that a standard automated Will is not the appropriate route. The estate checklist and action plan above remain useful.
